   This web page will help you determine which Operating System you are using.

  • One:    The simplest way of telling which Operating System you are using is to look at the monitor when you first turn on your computer in the morning. The full screen startup image will say either "Micorosft Windows 95" , "Micorosft Windows 98" "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional." If you are using Windows NT you will see a blue screen with white text at the top of the screen for most of the boot process. Once the system is ready to let you log in, you will see a logo in the background which will say "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation."
  • Two:    Another method is to do the following:
    Right Click on the "My Computer" Icon on your desktop, and select Properties from the menu.


    Once you select "Properties" the following dialogue will show up on your screen. I have circled the section that tells you which Operating System you are using.



    After checking what Operating System you are using, you can click the Cancel button.
