TOWN OF MANCHESTER
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Main Street Construction
Beginning Monday, August 14, 2006, Main Street between Center Street and Hartford Road will be milled and repaved. Work will begin at the Center Street intersection and proceed south toward Hartford Road. Work is expected to continue for 3 weeks.
In areas where active construction is underway, one lane of traffic will be maintained in the southbound direction. Northbound traffic will be temporarily detoured onto Spruce Street. At the end of the workday, both northbound and southbound lanes will be opened to traffic. There will be occasions when access to side streets to and from Main Street will be limited. There will also be occasions when parking on the street within the work areas will be restricted.
During construction operations, access to Main Street businesses will be maintained at all times from the southbound direction.
The project will also include milling and repaving the parking lot at the Mary Cheney Library. On Monday, August 14th and again on Monday, August 21st, the parking lot will be closed until 5:00 PM. Visitors are asked to park in the municipal parking lot off Pearl Street (behind Paul’s Paint) or at the Town Hall parking lot.
The Town is taking steps to keep inconveniences to a minimum; however, delays are expected and drivers are asked to use alternate routes during construction.
If you have any questions or concerns during this project or would like additional information, please contact the Public Works department at 647-3067.
