- Effective October 1, 2009, couples can only apply for a marriage license in the town where they are going to get married in. Before applicants can obtain a marriage license, they must know the date they will be married and the officiator performing the ceremony. applying for their marriage license

- Applicants under 18 years of age need written consent of a parent or a guardian. For applicants under 16 years of age, the Judge of Probate must also sign a consent on the license.

- The marriage license application is valid for 65 days from the date of initial application.

- Applicants for the marriage license must appear together in person at the Town Clerk's office. Each applicant should know the places of birth for both parents, as well as mother's full maiden name. Identification is required for both parties.

- The statutory fee for a marriage license is $30.00. A certified copy of the license after the ceremony will cost $20.00. (Certified copies with social security numbers showing will be issued to the bride or groom only).
