Connecticut Health Foundation

The CT Health Foundation funded a community planning project for Manchester and 11 other communities from Jan 2008-June 2009. A Planning Team, made up of representatives from the Youth Service Bureau, Nathan Hale School, Community Child Guidance Clinic, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Manchester Police Department, and parents, spent 18 months on the "Chance for Change" planning project focusing on Nathan Hale School. The plan addresses ways to keep kids at Nathan Hale between ages 6 and 11 out of the juvenile justice system and/or the intensive mental health system.

As a part of the plan, an in depth Community Assessment Report was created which lays out the needs of this neighborhood and why it was chosen for this planning process. This assessment, along with the actual plan, will be turned in to the CT Health Foundation as an application for 5 year implementation of the plan (called Neighbors for Kids). You will find the link below to the Assessment Report. If you have additional questions about this planning process, please contact Erica Bromley, Director of the Manchester Youth Service Bureau (and Planning Team Lead) at ebromley@ci.manchester.ct.us .
