The Town has contracted for a sand blasting and painting of the West Side Pool. That job is currently being done however; the recent amount of rain days has caused a delay in the project. Based on the number dry days needed to complete the project the Town cannot guarantee the pool will be ready for the scheduled June 26th opening. We hope that the delay would not be more than 2-3 days.
As a result, there will be no session I lessons for levels 1-4 and Mon-Fri evening preschool classes. Residents who need a session I class are encouraged to register at any of the other pools for the same level. Residents can still register for sessions II and III at the West Side Pool.
If you are registering for a M/W or T/Th infant, toddler or preschool class at the West Side Pool, there will be a delayed start and extended end time. The new start/end times for these classes are: M/W classes (7/3-8/2) and T/Th classes (7/6-8/8).
The swim lesson schedule for lessons in the summer brochure indicates that there is 4 sessions of swim lessons at all pools when in fact Globe Hollow Pool will be the only pool offering 4 sessions of lessons, all other pools offering lessons will have 3 sessions.
Summer Youth Swim Team in Danger of Being Cancelled
Summer Youth Swim Team is Danger of being cancelled. This self-supporting program needs a minimum of 50 swimmers to cover the cost of coaches, transportation to away meets and registration fees. Currently, there are 12 swimmers registered combined in both the Junior and Senior Divisions. The Recreation Department will make a final decision on Friday, June 23, whether or not the league will run. We encourage you to spread the word or consider registering your child for this program by Friday, June 23rd.
The Recreation Department will pilot on-line registration for summer swim lessons. After the initial in person registration on Saturday, June 17th, residents can register for swim lessons on-line at recreation.townofmanchester.org, and then click on to On-Line Registration. Please note that those who do register on-line will be charged a convenience fee and if refunds are requested by those who registered on-line, that convenience fee will not be refunded.
