Manchester Water & Sewer Department
The Manchester Water & Sewer Department would like to announce that groundbreaking for the long-awaited Globe Hollow Water Treatment Facility renovations has finally commenced. Improvements will include the addition of an ozonation system to improve taste and odor, plus provide an additional barrier of protection from undesirable waterborne organisms such as viruses and cysts, switchover from gaseous chlorine to a much safer liquid form, and numerous other replacements of process equipment, vessels and mechanical devices that have been in continuous service for nearly twenty-five years.
The project is slated for completion in May 2010. The Administrative offices at 125 Spring Street will remain open for the duration of the project, however because of construction activities, we are encouraging the public to make their utility payments by mail, in-person at Town Hall or on-line. Details regarding these methods of payment are available on the Frequently Asked Questions page of our website or by calling our Customer Service Division at 860-647-3135.
The Department would also like to notify the public that on April 1st, the wintertime bottling station in the front parking lot of the Water Treatment Plant will be shut down and the regular location at Mount Nebo Park be reopened for the season. These events will occur simultaneously to ensure there will be no interruption in service to our customers. Mount Nebo Park offers a beautiful setting, expanded hours, and this year we have added a ramp to facilitate access to the station for those who may be mobility impaired.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 860-647-3115 or visit the department’s website at www.townofmanchester.org/water for more information.
