JOIN REBUILDING TOGETHER ON SATURDAY, APRI L 25, 2009 to renovate our 1,00th home!
REBUILDING TOGETHER is part of a National non-profit organization called Rebuilding Together. The goal of this organization is to bring communities together in efforts to assist those in need of general home repair and improvements.
To be eligible to receive assistance from this volunteer organization a person must own and occupy their home in Manchester, and be unable to do the work themselves. There are income guidelines as well. Priority is given to fixed, low to moderate income families, elderly or disabled individuals.
There is an approval process which requires submitting an application to the House Selection Committee. This committee meets with the prospective recipients to preview the nature of work to be done and verify information listed on the application. The number of homeowners to be assisted each year depends upon available resources such as money for materials, volunteer labor and the ability to complete the work in one day. All applications are considered.
Recipients of the program are asked to welcome volunteers into their homes and to share in this "neighborhood helping neighbor" program. A certain amount of publicity will be involved in order to bring the program back to the community year after year.
