- Effective October 1, 2005, applicants have the option of applying for their civil union license either at the town where their union is to occur or at their town of residence. (There is no residency requirement for Connecticut Civil Unions).

- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or an emancipated minor.

- The civil union license application is valid for 65 days from the date of initial application.
|
- Applicants for the civil union license must appear in person, although they do not need to appear together. Applicants should know places of birth for both parents, as well as mother's full maiden name.

- Identification is required for both parties

| The statutory fee for a civil union license is $30.00. A certified copy of the license after the ceremony will cost $20.00. Certified copies with social security numbers will be issued to the applicants only. |
